“Align Your Personal, Professional and Social Goals to Provide Meaning to Your Life” - Professor M.S.Rao

“Ever more people today have the means to live, but no meaning to live for.”—Victor Frankl

Everyone has goals in their lives. Most people have their personal and professional goals while a few have social goals. In order to find meaning to your life, you must have your personal, professional and social goals and ensure that they are aligned effectively. Many people are born and dead everyday but we remember great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela to name a few because they provided meaning to their lives by setting broad goals and working hard relentlessly throughout their lives to build a better world.

There are innumerable advantages of setting goals. Here are some of them. You can remove negative thoughts from your mind and replace it with positive thoughts. Goals build positive attitude and instill optimism towards life. They enhance your focus which many people lack currently. Due to the rapid technology, people lead a complex and uncertain life and they find it tough to focus. Therefore, goals help you set your priorities right and straight, and stay clearly focused.  They provide direction and purpose. We all are blessed with 24 hours in a day and goals help us manage our time effectively.  Above all, goals provide meaning to your life. Here is the process to set your personal, professional and social goals and ensure that they are effectively aligned to bring happiness and provide meaning to your life.

I have a personal goal to become an educator and excel as an international leadership trainer. I am passionate about students. I have a professional goal to build students as leaders. My lifetime vision is to build one million students as global leaders. I have a social goal to build a better world for global peace and prosperity. Hence, I have become a professor and started to share my knowledge regularly with students in the classroom and with executives in the corporate world. I also write articles on leadership, executive education and coaching, and post them in social media regularly. I interact with some of the passionate people to groom them as global leaders. I want these global leaders to work for global peace and prosperity. In this way, I have aligned my personal, professional and social goals to make a difference to the world. Hence, you can also trifurcate your goals as per your passions, and ensure that they are consistent with your principles and philosophies to provide meaning to your life. Remember, you have only one life to do all these things. Don’t procrastinate. It is now or never!  Jai Hind!

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” - Nelson Mandela
