“Dear Students! Future of India is in Your Hands” - Professor M.S.Rao

"There comes a special moment in everyone's life, a moment for which that person was born. That special opportunity, when he seizes it, will fulfill his mission—a mission for which he is uniquely qualified. In that moment he finds greatness. It is his finest hour."  - Winston Churchill

Dear students,

You are more intelligent than us. You are more ambitious than us. You have tons of fire in your bellies. You are smarter than us. You are well informed than us. You are more powerful than us. You have more opportunities than us. The nation’s future is your hands. Don’t let down your parents. Don’t let down your educators. And don’t let down your country.

You are rightly placed in the history of India as you have ample of opportunities presently. Be responsible and accountable. Be duty-oriented than rights-oriented. Our country was the global leader more than 2000 years and we lost everything. But we have a great opportunity now to excel as a super power in the world as India is a young economy and young country where India has more than 50 percent of youth population. Dr S. Ramadorai rightly quoted, “We are a young economy, and we are only growing younger. In 2020, the average Indian will be only 29 years old – compare that with 37 in China and the US, 45 in West Europe and 48 in Japan. 65 per cent of our people will be in the working age group, and this age advantage for India is expected to continue for at least three decades till 2040. My vision for India is a country where everyone has been equipped with the skills needed to be positive contributor to the economy. In view of the huge demographic dividend that India enjoys, I also see Indian skills manpower being invited to other countries, to take care of their needs.”  Hence, acquire skills; enhance your employability; be productive; and make our country economically vibrant one and a respected one in the world.

“Impressed with A.P.J Kalam’s Speech” - Professor M.S.Rao

“Educationists should build the capacities of the spirit of inquiry, creativity, entrepreneurial and moral leadership among students and become their role model.” - A P J Abdul Kalam

Dear Students,

Two days ago, I enjoyed the speech delivered by the former President of India, Dr. APJ Kalam. I was very much impressed with his charisma, and his ability to connect with youth through his magical words and well-punched messages to achieve success with integrity.

Is it possible to achieve success with integrity? Many might ask me this question. Yes. It is possible. But it takes several years of journey filled with struggles and sacrifices. Currently some of the Indian youth want success at any cost. But the reality is that it takes tons of efforts to achieve success. If people adopt short cuts to achieve success they fail at the end miserably. If people achieve success due to luck they cannot sustain success when the luck runs out. If people focus on hard work, smart work, wise work and ethical work they will be able to achieve lasting success that is well emulated by all people in the world. We take Swami Vivekananda as a symbol of success and as a youth icon because he practiced what he preached. He emphasized on means, not ends. He emphasized on ethical means to convey right message to the youth and the world. He was the one of the Indians who put India on the global map by highlighting India’s unity in diversity and promoting fraternity and universal brotherhood in Chicago Conference.

Therefore, you must set a vision based on your talents and build skills around them. You must emphasize on ethical means to achieve success with integrity. You must be willing to wait for results. If you don’t find results take corrective steps and move forward to achieving lasting success with integrity.  Above all, develop a great attitude to serve your society, country and the world as a whole to ensure lasting happiness and peace everywhere. Jai Hind!

“When I asked God for strength, He gave me difficult situations to face, When I asked God for brain and brawn, He gave me puzzles in life to solve, When I asked God for happiness, He showed me some unhappy people, When I asked God for wealth, He showed me how to work hard, When I asked God for favors, He showed me opportunities to work hard, When I asked God for peace, He showed me how to help others, God Gave me nothing I wanted, He gave me everything I needed.” – Swami Vivekananda

“Education is Incomplete without Extracurricular Activities” - Professor M.S.Rao

“The extra curricular activity in which I was most engaged - debating - helped shape my interests in public policy.” - Joseph E Stiglitz

Currently Indian educational institutions emphasize more on curricular activities rather than on extracurricular activities. In fact, education is complete only when both curricular and curricular activities are equally accorded with importance.  Classroom education, especially curricular activities provide theoretical knowledge. Education empowers and enlightens students by opening widow to the outside world. A person without education is considered to be blind. At the same time, students must also focus on extracurricular activities like playing games and sports, and organizing events which build emotional intelligence and promote camaraderie and fraternity. They also promote competitive spirit and help understand team dynamics. As a result, students build leadership skills and abilities which are very much needed currently. Hence, it is essential to blend curricular and extracurricular activities among students to enable students to grow as well-rounded personalities.

Recently I was invited to attend a college anniversary day. One of the students outlined the challenges he encountered to organize the event with several setbacks, and finally bounced back to normalcy. I appreciated his sincerity to acknowledge publicly and the ability to bounce back with resilience and tenacity. I supported his views and enlightened the students that nobody can become a crackshot unless he loses some ammunition. Real leadership qualities can be learnt at the ground level, and especially through failing, falling and bouncing back. Hence, students must learn that things won’t work out the way they wanted but will happen the way they are supposed to happen as there are certain aspects in the external environment which are beyond human control.  However, we can predict and prepare to some extent, and be able to manage external threats to execute the tasks effectively to accomplish our goals. To conclude, students must not only focus on their curricular activities, they must also emphasize on extracurricular activities as the curricular activities equip students with knowledge and the extracurricular activities equip them with skills and abilities. There is need for all students to possess knowledge, skills and abilities to succeed in the current competitive world.

“When I was a teenager, I began to settle into school because I'd discovered the extracurricular activities that interested me: music and theater.” - Morgan Freeman
