“Is India as a Super Power by 2050 Hype or a Hope?” - Professor M.S.Rao

“We are a young economy, and we are only growing younger. In 2020, the average Indian will be only 29 years old – compare that with 37 in China and the US, 45 in West Europe and 48 in Japan. 65 per cent of our people will be in the working age group, and this age advantage for India is expected to continue for at least three decades till 2040. My vision for India is a country where everyone has been equipped with the skills needed to be positive contributor to the economy. In view of the huge demographic dividend that India enjoys, I also see Indian skills manpower being invited to other countries, to take care of their needs.” – Dr S. Ramadorai

Globally there is a frequent discussion about India becoming as a Super Power by 2050. There are four countries – Brazil, Russia, India and China that have the potential to grow in future. Whatever may be the research findings, it sounds good to hear for these four countries. But what made the researchers and analysts to predict India’s economic growth is least understood but widely discussed across the world.

For many years, India did not get adequate opportunity to exhibit as a super power although it has one of the oldest civilizations in the world. There are various reasons such as lack of right leaders and India as a country changed geographically from time to time with people from other countries coming here and assimilating to grow as Indians. In a nutshell, India is a melting point of various religions, ethnicities, castes, creed and communities. Eulogizing India’s greatness, Mark Twain once remarked, “India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grandmother of tradition. Our most valuable and most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only.” Historically India was conquered by many countries including French and British. India as a country withstood lots of challenges and evolved as the present India, and is still a developing nation in the world.

India is very rich in natural resources. Unfortunately, we are unable to exploit our natural resources due to various reasons including the political instability and tensions within the society. However, India as a democracy survived becoming as the largest democracy in the world. Currently India is the second largest populated country in the world next to China. It offers both as a threat and opportunity. It must be viewed as an opportunity as we will be able to utilize these human resources to exploit our national resources. Another advantage with India’s human resources is that we have the young population which is vibrant and productive and can take India to great heights globally. If we can channel this young human resources to exploit our national resources, India can become a prosperous country in the near future.  Therefore, that task ahead for India is to inculcate positive and right attitude among the young population. Encourage them to stay clearly focused on their goals and align their personal goals with nation’s goals. Inspire them to remain committed and dedicated to make India not only a prosperous country but also a super power in the future.

The developed countries have reached their stagnation. It is a great opportunity for developing countries like India. India must make use of both young human resources and natural resources to grow quickly as an economic super power. To conclude, India becoming as a super power by 2050 is not a hype but a hope which will be a reality. Jai Hind!

“We have been. . . thinking small. And if we look around us, countries like China have grown so much by thinking big. I would urge that we all, in the coming years, think big, think of doing things not in small increments, not in small deltas, but seemingly impossible things. But nothing is impossible if you really set out to do so. And we act boldly. Because it is this thinking big and acting boldly that will move India up in a manner different from where it is today.” -  Ratan Tata

“Align Your Personal, Professional and Social Goals to Provide Meaning to Your Life” - Professor M.S.Rao

“Ever more people today have the means to live, but no meaning to live for.”—Victor Frankl

Everyone has goals in their lives. Most people have their personal and professional goals while a few have social goals. In order to find meaning to your life, you must have your personal, professional and social goals and ensure that they are aligned effectively. Many people are born and dead everyday but we remember great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela to name a few because they provided meaning to their lives by setting broad goals and working hard relentlessly throughout their lives to build a better world.

There are innumerable advantages of setting goals. Here are some of them. You can remove negative thoughts from your mind and replace it with positive thoughts. Goals build positive attitude and instill optimism towards life. They enhance your focus which many people lack currently. Due to the rapid technology, people lead a complex and uncertain life and they find it tough to focus. Therefore, goals help you set your priorities right and straight, and stay clearly focused.  They provide direction and purpose. We all are blessed with 24 hours in a day and goals help us manage our time effectively.  Above all, goals provide meaning to your life. Here is the process to set your personal, professional and social goals and ensure that they are effectively aligned to bring happiness and provide meaning to your life.

I have a personal goal to become an educator and excel as an international leadership trainer. I am passionate about students. I have a professional goal to build students as leaders. My lifetime vision is to build one million students as global leaders. I have a social goal to build a better world for global peace and prosperity. Hence, I have become a professor and started to share my knowledge regularly with students in the classroom and with executives in the corporate world. I also write articles on leadership, executive education and coaching, and post them in social media regularly. I interact with some of the passionate people to groom them as global leaders. I want these global leaders to work for global peace and prosperity. In this way, I have aligned my personal, professional and social goals to make a difference to the world. Hence, you can also trifurcate your goals as per your passions, and ensure that they are consistent with your principles and philosophies to provide meaning to your life. Remember, you have only one life to do all these things. Don’t procrastinate. It is now or never!  Jai Hind!

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” - Nelson Mandela

“Stress on Your Signature Strengths to Achieve Your Success” - Professor M.S.Rao

"The man who is born with a talent which he is meant to use, finds his greatest happiness in using it." - Goethe

Do you want to achieve success quickly? Do you find it tough to achieve your success? Do you grope in darkness to find out the ways to achieve your success? You must stress on your signature strengths to achieve success quickly. In this regard, we will understand the meaning of signature strengths first to enable you to make use of them to achieve amazing success in your life.

Signature strengths are the activities in which we are strong, and are passionate to execute them. Finding them will identify your talents and work on skills accordingly. Some people fail because they don’t focus on their talents. In contrast, they focus on acquisition of skills and abilities. It is like searching for stones by leaving gems at home. Talents are hidden within you while the skills can be honed. Hence, it is essential to identify your talents and focus on them consistently.  You can also build skills and abilities around them to achieve great success. Hence, stressing on signature strengths helps you greatly. For instance, you are passionate to write books, or to speak, or play foot ball, then they become your signature strengths as such interests keep you up at night. When you take support of your signature strengths, you will be able to set your goals accordingly and accomplish them easily.

Signature strengths drive you to work hard and smart relentlessly. You enjoy talking about them. List out your signature strengths and weaknesses and stress on your signature strengths and guard from your signature weaknesses to achieve success and provide meaning to your life. For instance, my signature strengths are continuous learning and constant feedback, and signature weaknesses are straightforwardness and unable to say ‘no’ to others. Similarly, you find out your signature strengths and weaknesses to become a better person and professional. To conclude, whether it is grabbing employment opportunities, or to be a successful professional at the workplace, you must stress on your signature strengths and utilize them effectively to achieve success in your life.

“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me."” - Erma Bombeck
