“Set an Ambitious Mindset” - Professor M.S.Rao

"A man's worth is no greater than the worth of his ambitions." - Marcus Aurelius Antoninus, former Roman Emperor

Students must learn how to set their mindsets to be ambitious to achieve success in their lives. It is always good to be ambitious to stand out from others and great to accomplish goals to soar like an eagle. In fact, to aim low is a crime. Here goes the story of two masons:

A Tale of Two Masons

Two masons were working for construction of a flyover in a city.  A person approached them and asked what they were doing. One mason replied that he was constructing a wall while another person replied that he was busy constructing a great flyover in the city.  Although both seemed to be busy with their work one mason had an average mindset of constructing a wall in his mind while the another mason had great mindset of constructing a flyover in his mind, and he displayed a lot of pride for being a part of the prestigious project by radiating passion towards his work. From this story, it is obvious that although people do the same work some think small while some think big.  And those who think big develop ambitious mindset and achieve greatness in their lives.  Here are some tips to cultivate an ambitious mindset.

Set an Ambitious Mindset

To set an ambitious mindset, you must think big and be passionate in your area of interest.  You must create an environment where you can grow rapidly in your life. Mark Twain rightly said, "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." Hence, stay away from negative people who invalidate you and poison your mind with negative inputs.  You must create a network of good people to maintain it. You must acquire knowledge accordingly.  You must come out of your comfort zone and reset your goals after accomplishing your goals. You must work hard and raise your bar constantly.  You must learn, unlearn and relearn to stay relevant.  You must constantly fuel your goals. Above all, set your inner dialogue with high goals and fuel them constantly with needed inputs. Then your actions and behavior will change accordingly, and over a period of time you find yourself possessing ambitious mindset. Hence, students must always think big, set goals accordingly and work with passion and perseverance to become great in their lives.

“Ambition has one heel nailed in well, though she stretch her fingers to touch the heavens.” - Lao Tzu
