“You can fool all the people some of
the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the
people all the time.” - Abraham Lincoln
Recently my son shared a story of a
boy helping a struggling scorpion to come out of water to a safer place. I
liked the story very much as it touched with my real life experience when I
worked as a professor in an educational institution in India. Here goes the
story:
A scorpion was struggling in water to
come to the safer place. A boy observed the struggling scorpion and tried to
help it. He extended his hand to the scorpion to lift and place it in the safer
place. Whenever he touched the scorpion, it baited the boy. Boy got pain every
time he tried to help the scorpion but he did not give up helping it. A
passerby observed this and asked the boy, “Why are you helping the scorpion
when it is biting you?” Boy smiled and
said, “It is the nature of the scorpion to bite and it is my nature to help the
scorpion to reach to the safer place.” The passerby appreciated the boy’s kind heart.
Finally, the boy took a leaf and slowly
lifted the scorpion and placed it on the safer place. In real life also, we come across some people
who are harmful but we still extend our hands when they are in problems.
This story is related to my experience
when I worked as a professor in an educational institution. As my vision is to
build one million students as global leaders by 2030, I dedicated each of my
authored books to 50 students in the educational institution. My intention to
dedicate books to students is to serve as a lifetime gift to students, and to enable
them to show it as a reference during their employment interviews to grab
employment opportunities. Also,
dedication is one of the five steps to groom them as global leaders in my ‘Vision
2030’. Some of the students came to me to get their name included in the
dedication list. Initially, they were very pleasing and polite to get their
names included in the dedication list of books as my books are sold all over
the world and their names will also be known along with the books thus giving
them visibility. I was touched with their positive response. I bought books
with my own money and gifted them to inspire them. Unfortunately, some of the
students stopped showing their faces subsequently after availing this benefit. I
pitied them as they missed the further opportunities to grow as global leaders.
Some of them cheated me in many ways. Then I recalled the story of the scorpion
biting the helping boy and the boy helping the biting scorpion reach to a safer
place. I came to a conclusion that cheating me is the nature of some students,
and helping such cheating students is my nature.
“People are often unreasonable and
self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you
of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat
you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be
jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten
tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and
it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between
you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.” ― Mother Teresa

Let them cheat no problem, leaders always win and make history......because leaders are soft heart and soft mind accept challenges......And you deserve International leadership guru title in your history.....sir.....All the best......don't take it for hard.....Do not care sure students...........In my perspective, teacher treat each student in class equal......For example: swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Indra Gandhi, abraham lincoln, hitler, Indira Gandhi, bill gates,.... etc.....they have not became a great leader in a day........Time will teach everything......this is a student advise(Swetha).
