The media is bombarded with the entry
of another Telugu film industry icon – Pawan Kalyan. The TV channels and print
media are capitalizing by using his name with spicy stories about his family
life and his equations with his elder brother Chiranjeevi as Pawan has a huge
fan following among the Telugu audience.
I would like to share a few thoughts in this regard.
Film industry is different from
politics. In film industry, the writer scripts the story while in politics the
politician scripts his story. It requires organizational leadership apart from
political leadership. It is not advisable for Pawan to plunge into politics at
this stage and age as he is too young for politics. He is aggressive, adamant
and above all, eccentric in his attitude which might prove costly for his film
career as well. Hence, Pawan should not be misguided by wrong advisers who
incite for their own ends. He should think all these aspects and weigh all
options before dabbling into politics. He should concentrate on his acting for
some more years, and then, he can plunge into active politics later to bring
positive change in the society.
Pawan should note that charisma cannot
be converted into votes. N.T Rama Rao could convert his charisma into votes as
there was political vacuum prevailing and there was no alternative to Congress
at that time. Hence, N. T. Rama Rao could grab the opportunity, established himself
and succeeded in politics.
Leadership involves both bouquets and
brickbats. Pawan knows how to handle bouquets and he must learn how to handle
brickbats. Therefore, the duty ahead for Pawan is to participate in his own Non-Government
Organizations and nonprofit activities for some more years to earn good will
from all sections of society. He must also learn how to build an organization
and the challenges involved in it. He would also learn to tolerate with criticism
which is part of politics and every leader must be prepared to encounter.
Pawan Kalyan is one of the large
hearted personalities in the society today who stands by his commitment and cares
for society and people. People need leaders like Pawan Kalyan who are altruistic
and society oriented. Pawan Kalyan is like my younger brother. Hence, I advise
him to restrain from dabbling into politics at this stage. He should strengthen
his fan base and consolidate for a few more years to make an entry when the
right opportunity comes. I wish him good luck!
